Music & Theatre Studio

Our versatile studio spaces are perfect for lessons, rehearsals, and collaboration. The large Ensemble Room hosts a piano, drum set, and numerous other instruments. Its uses vary from open studio, to group lessons, to practice space for our theatre classes. In the Chamber Hall, you’ll find a beautiful performance space for concerts and plays.

Music & Theatre Classes

Private Music Lessons

The Jansen Art Center is equipped with several teaching studios for private instruction on the upper level of the building. We currently have teachers for piano, guitar, bass, banjo, and ukulele.

Parents or students can contact the private instructors directly to set up a schedule. Payments are then made directly to the instructor.

Any potential instructors interested in renting space are invited to inquire with the music studio manager at [email protected]

Open Strings Group

Strings open studio takes place on the First & Third Thursday of each month from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. It is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with other string players and work on chamber music together. It is only $5.00 per session to participate! Contact Karen Visser with any questions regarding this group.

Front Street Jazz

Front Street Jazz is a group of musicians who appreciate the art form represented by jazz music of all kinds and enjoy performing it. This close band has performances at the J year round, and is also available to perform at community events.

Call for Musicians

Front Street Jazz performs an eclectic range of music, including blues, classic and modern jazz, gospel, Motown, and many other styles. Our musicians are local amateurs and range in age from sixteen to seventy-five. We perform three or more concerts per year.

We are seeking new players to join our ranks. We have recently added performance dates to our calendar above the three standard concerts per year, and are seeking venues other than the Jansen Art Center. Because of the nature of scheduling, we often cannot commit to performing due to conflicts with individual members’ schedules. Expanding our numbers will give us more flexibility.

If you have played in the past and would like to play again, we would welcome you to join us. You should be able to read and play from sheet music. Most of our charts are rated Easy to Medium, which is middle-to high-school level. We hope to add players in each section.

We are looking for trumpet, trombone, saxophone, guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, clarinet, flute, and percussion performers. Other instruments (tuba, banjo, etc.) and vocalists will be considered as well. If you’d like more information, please contact me.
