Music & Theatre Studio
Our versatile studio spaces are perfect for lessons, rehearsals, and collaboration. The large Ensemble Room hosts a piano, drum set, and numerous other instruments. Its uses vary from open studio, to group lessons, to practice space for our theatre classes. In the Chamber Hall, you’ll find a beautiful performance space for concerts and plays.
Battle of the Bands
The Jansen Art Center proudly presents a battle of musical proportions! Young bands of any genre are invited to submit their original music to win cash prizes and studio recording time.
Submit online performances to be juried by a selection of musicians from the community. Three groups will be chosen to perform at the Finals where the first-ever Jansen Art Center Battle of the Bands winner will be announced.
Private Music Lessons
The Jansen Art Center is equipped with several teaching studios for private instruction on the upper level of the building. We currently have teachers for piano, guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele, voice, and cello.
Parents or students can contact the private instructors directly to set up a schedule. Payments are then made directly to the instructor. Parents and family members have the option of enjoying coffee or snacks in the Café or waiting in the area outside the teaching studios.
Any potential instructors interested in renting space are invited to inquire with the music studio manager at [email protected]
Open Strings Group
Strings open studio takes place on the First & Third Thursday of each month from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. It is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with other string players and work on chamber music together. It is only $5.00 per session to participate, and free to J – Members (Artist level or higher). Contact Karen Visser with any questions regarding this group.
Jansen Jazz Band
The Jansen Jazz Band first formed in the fall of 2012 with about ten players using “Combo” charts for rhythm and 4 horns. Later, they developed into the full-sized Big Band, comprised of 20-30-members. All of the musicians are volunteers, members of the community who enjoy learning and performing.
When in a smaller combo group, they go by Front Street Jazz, a group of musicians who appreciate the art form represented by jazz music of all kinds and enjoy performing it.This close band has performances at the J year round, and is also available to perform at community events. If you’re interested in joining the band or booking a performance, fill out this interest form!
