1 Day Workshop with Dan Stockwell
Saturday, January 29, 2022
3:00–5:00pm
The best way to learn to throw pots is to get your hands dirty… quite literally!
Join Stockwell for an introduction to throwing on the potter’s wheel! All levels welcome, no experience necessary. These 2-hour, single-session classes are a wonderful option for beginners. Consider taking a class with a friend or two. You will sit down at the potter’s wheel, get your hands wet, open a centered cylinder of clay and “pull the walls up” into your very own creation.
Our experience workshops are tailor-made to meet the needs of young artists; you will have a well-equipped studio and attention from an experienced potter. You’ll learn about the techniques, but also receive individual feedback. Our aim is for everyone to have a great time in a creative and supportive environment, and to have made at least one piece of pottery per person by the end of the session. Using the potter’s wheel, students make a bowl, planter, or mug in beginning throwing.
Once you have made your pot and signed your name, Dan will trim, bisque, and fire it for you, and then glaze it (if you leave instructions). You can pick it up when it is ready.
