Summer Exhibits and Cup Show Winners!
Thank you to everyone who came to the Summer Opening Reception last night for our new exhibits! If you missed it, all of the exhibits will be going on until August 30th, so you still have time to see them. Each exhibit this quarter is so unique from the other, creating a different feel in each room.
All along the walls of the first and second floor are the pieces from our Summer Juried Exhibit. Upstairs in the Chamber Hall is Innerspace, Acrylic Paintings by Kay D Little, who states, “I love to violate perspective because this sets up tension. I look for forms that interest me and break the mind and eye associations. I want the viewer to struggle to understand what they are looking at and find their own personal association.” Also upstairs in the Library is Ancients Unfolding, Journal Sketches by Marcia K Moore whose life journey is immersed in the culture, history and spiritual energies of ancient indigenous peoples of North and South America, which extends to all of her projects. You’ll need to get very close up to all of her pieces in order to take in all of the details. Itch, by Cecilia Karoly-Lister is on the main floor in the Fine Arts gallery. The exhibit “invites the viewer to critically consider the elevated status of clothing in defining gender. It also chronicles the emotional struggle, acceptance, and eventual delight in finding one’s body as home.” The pieces are beautiful acrylic and multimedia pieces you won’t want to miss. Also in the Fine Arts Gallery is our 7th Annual Cup Show! We had 90 accepted cups from 31 different cities, 14 different states from the US & Canada.
