Expired Surface Design Techniques for Greenware

6 Week Class with Ruth Hesse

This class covers additive and subtractive surface design techniques, using wax resist, slip, underglazes. Wax resist, laser, printed underglaze transfers, sgraffito, and Mishima can all add interest to your clay creations.
The first five weeks of class will include demonstration and assistance with projects as needed. The sixth week of class will be an opportunity for students to share their work with each other.
The cost of this course includes 23 hours per week of free open studio time for extra practice.

PREREQUISITES
Students should have prior experience throwing or handbuilding, as well as glazing.

MATERIALS TO BRING
- Bags of clay are available for purchase through the J.
- Students might want to invest in their own underglazes and wax, but they may wish to decide after the first couple of classes.
