This dynamic trio features Seattle musicians Eric Likkel on clarinet/sax, Gabe Hall-Rodrigues on accordion and piano, and Lamar Lofton on bass. Drawing from jazz and beyond, the evening will range between standards and originals by all three members.
Eric Likkel is an active woodwind player in the Seattle region, performing across a wide range of genres. He is featured live and on recordings with Origin Records, the Earshot Jazz Festival, Ballard Jazz Walk, Lynden Music Festival, Valse Café Orchestra, Smiling Scandinavians, Hereward, Ben Thomas Tango Project, and his own Crown Hill Combo. As performer, arranger, and composer, Eric contributes new chamber works through the TORCH Quartet, and helped launch the Common Tone Music Festival in Moscow, Idaho. Before coming to Seattle in the mid 1990s, Eric graduated from Cincinnati Conservatory. He played with Cedar Point Live Shows, the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, Ernie Krivda’s Fat Tuesday Big Band in Cleveland, and was a member of the American/European Rome Festival Orchestra in Italy. As a music instructor, Eric has more than 30 years of experience teaching clarinet and saxophone. He is currently an adjunct music faculty member at DigiPen Institute of Technology where he teaches improvisation skills, coaches ensembles, and lectures on American popular music.
Gabe Hall-Rodrigues is a Seattle based accordionist, pianist, vocalist, composer and arranger. Originally from Arizona, Gabe holds an undergraduate degree in Music Therapy and a Master’s Degree in Jazz Piano Performance from Arizona State University under the direction of Mike Kocour. In 2019, he won 2nd place in the International Open category at the largest accordion competition in the world, The Trophee Mondial in Loule, Portugal. In 2017 Gabe became co-conductor of the Rose City Accordion Club Silver Falls Camp. He is the current president of the North American Accordion Collaborative, a 501c3 organization dedicated to promoting the accordion and creating opportunities for accordionists to learn from and connect with each other. He presents clinics, masterclasses and workshops at accordion events throughout the United States. Gabe is a Petosa and Harmonik artist. Gabe’s most current projects are accordion duo Creosote and Seattle’s premier Brazilian forró band En Canto and Seattle’s newest forró band Foleada. Creosote is the dynamic accordion duo with renowned Seattle accordionist Jamie Maschler, together they create original and Brazilian classic music featuring inspired arrangements with a unique and endearing twist. They have performed at countless accordion events throughout the country, perform regularly in Seattle and recently were featured performers at the National Association of Music Merchants’ (NAMM) Museum of Making Music. In addition to performing, Gabe teaches privately in Seattle as well as via skype and other video platforms to accordionists all over the country.
Bassist Lamar Lofton hails from Seattle. After attending prestigious Garfield High School he attended Cornish College of the Arts where he received his BFA in Music Performance. Since then he has performed locally and around the world in various musical settings from musical theatre to international Reggae and Jazz artists including Clinton Fearon, Eek-a-Mouse, John Hicks , Ernestine Anderson, The Abyssinians, Julian Priester, Hadley Caliman, Renee’ Strange, Cedric Brooks and many others. Adept at both string and electric bass, his versatility in instruments and musical settings continue to keep him in demand as accompanist and a leader.
