Expired Encaustic Workshop
2 Day Class with Jana Gering

Paint with fire! Encaustic is an ancient method of painting with beeswax. Jana will introduce you to the history, technique, and methodology of encaustic basics and show you how work safely with the heat tools and torches, mix paint colors, and work with encaustic’s layered and tactile properties. Further instruction will cover how to apply mixed media methods like collage, photography, image transfers, carving and incising lines, incorporating text, stamps, stencils, metallic foil, lacquer, and more.

- sketchbook and pencil.Students are invited to bring photographs, ink-printed photocopied materials to use as transfers, or any papers, old book pages, other materials they may want to incorporate into their pieces.
