Expired 2018 Summer Juried Exhibit

Join us at the Jansen Art Center on Thursday, June 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM for the Opening Reception for the 2018 Summer Juried Exhibit. Enjoy live music in the piano lounge with Darla Bradshaw Lobb and Walt Burkett, meet the artists and explore all of our summer exhibits: Peggy Woods, Ria Harboe & Nancy Canyon, Norman E. Riley and the 6th Annual Cup Show.

The Juried Exhibits are open to the public as a way to showcase the artistic talent in Whatcom County and the surrounding region. Each season, artists are invited to submit up to five pieces to be judged by a qualified jury made up of artists, curators, and other figures in the arts community. The selected pieces are displayed in the Jansen Art Center for the community to enjoy.

This quarter, we received submissions from nearly 50 artists. The jury selected 74 pieces from 43 artists for the 2018 Summer Juried Exhibit. The exhibit includes a wide assortment of artistic mediums including acrylic, oil and watercolor painting, assemblage, photography, textiles, and pastels.

Artist Gene Jaress will also be hosting a reception at the Inn at Lynden a block away from the J for his exhibit that opened in May.
