Exhibit Statement
The Juried Exhibits at the Jansen Art Center rotate seasonally and show off the wide variety of artistic talent found right here in Whatcom County. Artists of all calibers and mediums are invited to submit up to five pieces for consideration by a rotating jury made up of artists, curators, and other members of the regional arts community.
Over the past year, submissions to the Juried Exhibits at the J have reached record numbers, proving that even in the most difficult times art and creativity still thrive. This Winter Juried exhibit is one of our largest yet, featuring over 100 pieces from 49 artists, including our youngest juried artist ever at just 9 years old. The mediums included range from woodblock prints and watercolor to jewelry, ceramics, collage, and everything in between.
