As part of the 5 Year Celebration of the Jansen Art Center on Saturday, August 5, the Ceramics Studio is putting together a couple of events for visitors. We encourage you to visit the Ceramics Studio and learn more about the classes and open studios being offered this Fall.
Nudibranch Exhibit and Contest
The Ceramics students and open studio artists were all invited to create work inspired by the nudibranch for this exhibit. A nudibranch is a soft-bodied marine gastropod mollusk, known for their extraordinary colors and striking forms. There are about 2,300 species of nudibranchs known today. Visitors to the studio will get to vote for their favorite nudibranch inspired piece and that ceramic artist will receive a prize from the studio.
Ceramics Sale
The students and open studio artists will be having a ceramics sale and Second Sale from 11:00 AM – 5:00 Pm in the Ceramics Studio as well. Seconds are not-so-perfect ceramic pieces that the artists have donated to raise money for the studio. Some of the artists will also have some of their work available for sale.
