The J’s 4th Birthday!
The Jansen Art Center is celebrating 4 years of bringing the arts to Lynden on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 11am-5pm.
Here is the list of activities for the day:
All Day Activities (11am-5pm)
Party Starts! Pick up your Stamp Card, visit our studios and turn in your Stamp Card to claim your Party Favor Bag! Arts Activities: Yarn Bomb Community Art Project, Button-Making, Plein Air Painting, Paint a Village, Photobooth and Birthday Card making activities all day long. Membership Drive: Watch our membership video, renew your membership or become a new member and be entered to win prizes throughout the day! Specials in the Firehall Cafe including a $4.00, 16ounce Dalmation Mocha! Ceramics Studio Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser! Pick out a handmade ceramic bowl for $10. Ice Cream is free. Proceeds benefit the ceramics studio. Enjoy Special Birthday Discounts and be the first to register for Fall Classes including Musical Theatre, Ceramics, Group Guitar, Jewelry and more! - An extensive collection of yarn, suitable for weaving, knitting, crochet – use your imagination!
- A LeClerc 4-harness loom with one reed, in good shape, $300
- A warping reel, not collapsable, $50
- A drum carder, $50
- A Union loom, 2-harness counterbalance, $100
- Miscellaneous weaving tools, including many rug shuttles
- A collection of books on a wide range of textile topics.

11:00-12:30pm: Jammin’ @ the J Jazz Combo performance in the Piano Lounge 11:45-12:30pm: Sample Class with the Northwest Ballet Academy (all ages welcome) 12:00pm: Historic Tour of the Jansen Art Center starts in the front entry 1:00pm: Children’s Musical Theatre performance in the Chamber Hall 1:05pm: Historic Tour of the Jansen Art Center starts in the front entry 2:15pm: Historic Tour of the Jansen Art Center starts in the front entry 2:30-4:30pm: Westfalia performs in the Piano Lounge 2:30pm: Improv/Theatre Games with the Gogh Teens in the Chamber Hall 4:00pm: Sing Happy Birthday to the J and enjoy birthday cake in the Piano Lounge Buy tickets for a performance by The Seabreeze Jazz Band, a 7 piece jazz band made up of Jerry Fenwick- Flugelhorn, Robert “Goldtooth” Ray-bass, Jack Stafford- sax, Dave Keim- trombone, Andy Carr- piano, Walt Burkett- guitar, Grant Wilson- drummer taking place that evening at in the Chamber Hall at the J.
