Lisa Toner

Alexander Technique Instructor
Lisa Toner is a certified Alexander Technique teacher, violinist, and Suzuki violin teacher. She grew up in Whatcom County and earned a Bachelors in Violin Performance from WWU. Her curiosity about the process of teaching and learning led her to the UW, where she got a Masters of Education in Human Development and Cognition. Her research examined teacher-student interaction during deep learning moments. For the next ten years, she operated a thriving Suzuki violin/viola studio in NE Seattle. Along the way, she began studying the Alexander Technique (AT) and was delighted with the new perspectives it offered to her playing and teaching, and how helpful it was for overuse injuries that didn’t respond completely to physical therapy. She completed the long process of becoming a certified Alexander Technique teacher in 2019, and teaches the AT to adults from many walks of life. Lisa and her family just moved home to Bellingham, and she is enjoying spending time with her young children and building a new teaching studio.
