NIKKI FURLONG: Bent & Twisted

Artist Statement:
Twisting, bending, curling and cutting. These are the motions I use to manipulate strips of paper to create my art. This creative process is known as quilling, an art form dating back to the Renaissance era. I’ve been an artist and crafter my entire life, and discovering paper quilling has given me the creative freedom to blend my two passions.
When I create, each meticulous bend, curve and cut of paper is intentional. I seek to capture the simplicity of nature and to create pieces that are both bold and unexpected.
