FIREFLY CONCERT SERIES
Saturday, September 30, 7:30 PM
The Jansen Art Center is proud to present Mostly Broadway, a concert featuring Tracy Neff and Jerri Mercer on Saturday, September 30 at 7:30 PM.
In the first Firefly Concert of the 2017-2018 season, Mostly Broadway, pianist, Jerri Mercer will be accompanying singer Tracy Neff. Mercer met Neff when she was Mercer’s featured student in the Young People’s Concerts in the 1990’s. The two have remained friends and colleagues ever since. Both have a lifetime of experience in the world of music.
Pianist extraordinaire Jerri Lee Mercer will again join forces with the spectacular voices and personalities of Tracy Neff and husband, Tony Barton. Neff and Mercer performed for Jansen five years ago and are back by popular demand.
Their new show will feature hits from Carousel,Fiddler on the Roof, Music Man, My Fair Lady and Phantom of the Opera, as well as numerous other favorite, winsome songs. Mercer will add a bit of diversion with such piano solos as “Fats” Waller’s Keepin’ Out of Mischief, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee and Gershwin’s Rialto Ripples Rag.
Pianist Jerri Lee Mercer has performed over 80 concerts across North America under contract with Hardt-Murdock (Toronto), Overture Concerts (Vancouver) and Columbia Artists (New York.) She now performs frequently for her community in concerts, charities, fundraisers, and schools in the Vancouver area– and is always delighted to take part in the musical arts at the beautiful Jansen Art Center.
Tracy Neff is thrilled to return to the Jansen Arts Center. Neff hails from Vancouver, Canada and currently spends her time performing and teaching young and aspiring singers/performers. Having received her BFA in musical theatre from the Boston Conservatory of Music, Neff has performed in the US and throughout the lower mainland in various styles and venues.
Mercer and Neff will be joined by Neff’s husband, Tony Barton. Throughout his career, Tony has shared the stage with artists such as B.B. King, Barbara Streisand, Michael W. Smith, R. Kelly and opera legend Sheryll Milnes.
Mercer tells us she is very grateful for the Jansen Art Center, a cultural venue one would more typically discover in NYC or Chicago. “The concert hall has world-class acoustics, one of the finest grand pianos I have ever played and an intimate setting that immediately affords a great “connect” with the audience,” Mercer adds.
Jerri Mercer will be playing this concert in tribute to her encouraging mother. She gives thanks to God, her husband, and four beautiful sons.
