Mansur Ahmed
After studying Drawing and Painting at Dhaka University’s Institute of Arts & Crafts, Mansur began a career in advertising as an Art Director and Graphic Designer before transitioning to the performing arts as a performer, choreographer, costume designer, and stage designer. His multidisciplinary creative work encompasses drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and installation, enriched by a cross-disciplinary approach. Focused on expressing emotions rather than illustrating them, Mansur relies on instinct and flow to guide his acrylic paintings, allowing each piece to evolve organically and take on a life of its own. Driven by an inner force, his art explores themes of transformation through bold colors, motion, and unconventional tools, often inspired by theatrical installations and a broad appreciation for all forms of art.

I began learning art through the style of realism starting at the age of six until covid started. I only picked up the brush after Mansur introduced me to purely abstract art. Creating abstract pieces has taught me to be bolder, embracing unpredictability and letting go of my attachment to preparation. This style of art has encouraged me to trust my instincts and embrace confidence outside of art. Through abstract art, I have created unapologetically spontaneous and authentic paintings.

Art and music are one of the few things that directly penetrate into our hearts. Luckily, I have been enjoying both since I was a child. 4 Hand Intuitive Art to me was the way of nonverbal communication from soul to soul. It was such a spiritual and joyful experience for me. Mansur was my instructor when I took 4 hand Intuitive Painting at the Jansen Art Center. He gently taught me how Intuition could blossom into inspiration through art. I was honored when he asked me to collaborate with him.

I enjoyed art since I was able to hold a pencil as a toddler, exploring both abstract and figurative shapes and patterns and color. A big fan of manga, I appreciate careful and original character design and world building through art. Working with Mansur, I enjoyed exploring intuitive abstract composition as a way of expanding my process and palette. Discovering form, tone, and meaning through process has expanded my sense of freedom in art and connectivity both to the time and place where the art was created and to the viewer.
