The Jansen Art Center welcomes the 2017 visual arts exhibit: Promising Futures: Whatcom County High School Student Art, on display at the J from May 4 through 26, 2017. The Opening Reception will be held on Thursday, May 4 from 5:30-7:00pm and is free and open to the public. There is a special early performance for Live Music in the Piano Lounge featuring the local teen band, Rockin’ 7.

Established in 1997 at the Whatcom Museum of History and Art, Promising Futures: Whatcom County High School Student Art showcases artwork of students from across the county.

The show provides dedicated, aspiring high school artists a chance to display their work in a fine arts gallery. The exhibit includes drawings, paintings, ceramics and digital art.

Schools represented in this year’s exhibit include Bellingham, Blaine, Ferndale, Lynden, Lynden Christian, Meridian, Mount Baker, Options, Sehome and Squalicum.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, May 4 from 5:30-7:00pm to congratulate the young artists selected by their instructors to be included in this exhibit, and to enjoy live music from area teen musicians.
