Upcoming Twill Weaving
4 Day Workshop with Sheri Ward
Friday – Saturday, November 1 – 2 & November 8 – 9, 2024
12:30–3:30 pm
So you know a bit about weaving and want to take it to the next step? Come explore twills, one of the most common and versatile weave structures. Participants will make a twill gamp, which is a sampling of various twill weaves, along with a small project such as a scarf or table runner. The gamp can then be used for future reference and inspiration. In addition to projects on individual looms, there will a loom set up to make a small rug sampler, using twill in a weft-faced weave.
Looms are to be warped prior to the first class, following directions provided by the instructor. You may choose your own colors for warp and weft from materials provided, or bring suitable yarns of your own. You may use one of the studio looms or bring your own.
Students should have some familiarity with warping a loom, although help will be available. If you would like help, please come to the Textile Studio on Thursday, Oct. 31 between noon and 4, or arrange an alternate time with the instructor.
