2 Day Workshop with Leah Meleski 

Saturday, October 1 & Sunday, October 2, 2022
11:00am–6:00pm

As a new jeweler, you may have noticed that there are so many tools that you can use. You may have also noticed how expensive tools can be, but did you know that you can modify old worn hammers and make your own chasing/stamping tools?

This class unveils one of the mysteries of texturing metal. Class time will be spent learning several toolmaking techniques to assist them in creating their own signature textures on their metal. These chasing tools can be used for chasing and repousse, stone setting, riveting, adding texture and more Students will leave class with a handful of handmade chasing tools and a new signature hammer. Texture tools made in this class can be use for both metal sculpture and jewelry.

CLASS FEES
Members: $202.50

Non-Members: $225

MATERIALS FEES
$10-15

AGES
Adults 16+

PREREQUISITES
Students should have taken Metalsmithing & Jewelry 1, Beginning Jewelry or Soldering 101 and be comfortable using an acetylene torch.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Thursday, September 29, 12:00pm

MATERIALS TO BRING
Students are welcome to bring an old ball pein hammer or two that they are willing to modify. The instructor will supply one ball pein hammer with class materials. They are also encouraged to bring a pencil and a sketchbook/notebook and required to wear closed-toed shoes such as sneakers or boots and be able to tie long hair back for safety.

Masks are not required, but recommended.
