SURFACE DESIGN FOR THE WEAVER – WARP PAINTING: A WEAVER’S PALETTE

Instructor: Liz Moncrief

If you work with fiber, be it yarn or finished cloth, then increasing your design options is an invaluable skill to have. In this workshop, we’ll focus on using cellulosic fibers, (Tencel, bamboo, cotton, rayon – even ramie and hemp) and bringing a new exciting aspect to your weaving experience.

I will discuss basic color theory in order that participants will be able to produce successful results both in class and at home on their own. You’ll make a mess and have a ball. A recipe and formula book will be provided. I will guide the class through mordanting, dyeing and finishing, and you could have a gorgeous, colorful warp on your loom within days.
