Surface Design for Clay

Want to bring some excitement to your clay creations? Ruth Hesse will be sharing some of her surface design techniques for clay. Class will cover additive and subtractive techniques, using slips, underglazes, and wax resist.

This class is intended for intermediate students who have prior clay experience. Students will be encouraged to make multiples of something such as a bowl, mug, or tile, so they can try different surface techniques and see what appeals to them.

MATERIALS FEE:
Paid to the instructor on the day of the class: $27

MATERIALS TO BRING:

We use Oregon White clay.

Bring leather hard greenware to the first day of class.

A P100 respirator is required for at least one technique

A starter supply of Amaco Velvet Underglazes and wax resist will be provided. All materials purchased for class will be divided equally between the students, so please bring 8 small plastic containers with lids.
