Schimmel Showcase:
Jo Ann Stremler
Friday, December 15, 2023
11:00am-12:00pm
One of the most impressive things inside the Jansen Art Center is the Schimmel piano in the Chamber Hall.
This gorgeous grand piano fills the entire building with rich resonant sound. It’s not often that we get to showcase this amazing instrument.
On select Friday mornings beginning at 11am, join us for a one-hour performance by regional pianists. Our next Schimmel Showcase of the season features a performance by Jo Ann Stremler
Donations are welcome, and we will provide coffee, tea, and cookies or pastries for you to enjoy.
Artist Bio
Jo Ann Stremler, daughter of Casey and Audrey, was born and raised in Lynden. Jo Ann began playing piano in 2nd grade. She took lessons for 7 years from Martha Helder. By 4th grade, she was accompanying the school singing at Ebenezer Christian School. In 6th and 8th grade she placed first in private school competitions.
Jo Ann then went on to 45 years of church ministry as an organist, and accompanist, playing for over 3200 memorials and 4009 weddings. Yes, she kept track of each wedding and had lots of fun and some frightening stories.
Jo Ann moved to Bellingham 8 years ago to be closer to family, now working as a certified caregiver for the elderly and disabled in their private homes.
What will you hear at the concert? Perhaps a piano duet, Messiah, Nutcracker, other Christmas favorites, and maybe some oldies but goodies with new harmonies. Jo Ann states: “It [the Schimmel] is a stunning instrument to look at and a beautiful room but more importantly the piano has a prestigious sound and fills the room with joy and beauty. I am delighted to be invited to perform on this piano and I look forward to seeing many of you there.”
