1 Day Workshop with Jessica Mase

Saturday, November 16, 2024
11 am – 3 pm

For the Glass Bottle Fairy house, we will start with a rough sketch of our desired house shape and design. There will be a couple of bottle sizes to choose from. We will use tin foil and wire to bulk out our lids and form our armature. Students will blend different clays to reach their desired color schemes and then form the clay around our bottles. We will add in doors and windows and use translucent liquid clay to add “glass,” and even color our liquid clay to make miniature stained-glass windows! We will use a mixture of tools and everyday items such as tooth brushes and foil balls to texture our faux wood and stone, then add dimension using chalk pastels and paint/markers to shade and highlight. We will finish off learning how to properly cure polymer clay and seal if necessary. By the end of the classes, new users will know how to properly cure polymer clay to maximize both strength and flexibility, how to blend clay to achieve desired colors, the basics of rolling out and shaping clay and some fundamental rules for working with polymer clay. Upon completion of the class, students will have a fairy home in a bottle with twinkling fairy lights to light your new windows!
