Soft Pastel Painting only lives up to its promise when we are willing to give it a punch. We will cover the most important contrast, value, how to see it, how to use it, & why it is so critical and how to give it a punch!

MATERIALS TO BRING
Soft Pastels, bring what you have. If you do not have any, bring a comprehensive set of colors, including a very light and a very dark. Most sets do not contain dark enough or light enough pastels so you may have to buy them separate.
DO NOT BRING ‘OIL’ PASTELS
- One photograph that you will use for your painting. This should be printed out, not on a phone or Ipad.
- 1 sheet of medium valued colored Mi Tientes Pastel Paper-your color choice. This full sheet should be cut into fourths before class!
- 1 sheet Uart Sanded Pastel Paper, white
- Masking Tape 1 1/2” wide
- Drawing Board at least 18″ x 24” such as drawing board, gator board or foam core
Trish will supply:
- Vine charcoal
- Photo for exercises
supplies can be purchased at Dakota Art in Belllingham, Dakota Art Pastels in Mt Vernon, or online. Be sure to get your supplies well ahead of class as the items may be back ordered.
HEALTH AND SAFETY: Masks are optional.
