New Terrain by Gregory Kammer

June 3 – August 26, 2021

The Jansen Art Center is pleased to welcome Gregory Kammer for an exhibit of his work. The exhibit opens on June 3 and will be on display through August 26, 2021.

Artist Statement

I have one aim as an artist. To paint what I see in my own way. It’s not an easy thing to do. If it were easy I would ﬁnd no pleasure in doing it. I enjoy the hard work of pushing uncooperative mediums into the expression of my emotions.

Artist Bio

Gregory Kammer is a painter and sculptor who works from his studio on Marrowstone Island near Port Townsend, Washington. He received a BA and MFA from the University of Washington, and a MA in Art History from the University of New Mexico.

His work has been featured in one-person shows at the Whatcom Museum, Bellingham, WA; the University of the Paciﬁc, Stockton, CA; the Russell Day Gallery, Everett, WA and group shows at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM; the University of Washington, Seattle, WA; the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle WA, and the Primitive Image Gallery, San Francisco, CA.

His work is in private, public, institutional, and international collections, most notably at Aichi Toho University, Nagoya, Japan (2013), and Otemae University, Osaka, Japan (2015).

He has published a book entitled New Terrain with six individual artists. It is a joint expression of exploration and discovery and is the culminating expression of weekly meetings over the past year. The book can be found on Amazon.
