6 Weeks

Class Date: To be determined

Instructor: Shelly Stark

Teapots are one of the most challenging, fun and creative forms a potter makes. In this class we will work on making multiple components: teapot body, spouts, lids and handles; then the fun begins as we mix and match all the parts to put together a beautiful functioning teapot. As we create the parts we will discuss what makes a well functioning teapot, how to make that tricky spout- either on the wheel or by handbuilding it- and all the creative ways to make a comfortable handle. Time permitting, we will spend the last class learning to weave a one of a kind handle from basketry reed or found material. Optional $10 materials fee for handle material if desired. Paid to the instructor.

The cost of this course includes 16 hours of free open studio time per week for extra practice.
