Mayor of Lynden, Scott Korthuis, introduces the 2022 Lynden Music Festival with several performers! Coffee and cookies provided by Woods Coffee.
2:00 PM – Tangos and Trolls: Classical Music Dances
with David Benson on Violin, Terhi Miikki-Broersma on Piano, and Tomeda-Miikki Duo.
6:00 PM – Reception with Lynden Music Festival in the Fine Arts Gallery
Bring your friends and enjoy an hour filled with conversation, hors d’oeuvres, and wine… It’s a perfect combination! You will meet our Festival Team, our Mayor, and maybe a few musicians from the 2022 Festival!
7:00 PM – Festival Star Night with Martin Alvarado (Argentina), Matti Laukkanen (Finland) & Crosscurrent Pacific Northwest/Jazz
Described as “The Voice of tango in the 21st century” and “The Best voice of Buenos Aires”, Martín Alvarado is one of Argentina’s most prominent contemporary tango singers and one of the finest vocalists in the history of tango. Matti Laukkanen is one of the creators of the “New Finnish Tango Nuevo” and one of the world’s leading artists in modern tango music. Laukkanen and Alvarado will perform the music of their duo album recorded in Jyväskylä which includes vanguardist performances of Finnish and Argentinian tango jewels.
