6 Week Class

Dates: Tuesdays, August 24–September 28, 2021
Time: 6:30–9:00 PM

Instructor: Jesse Rasmussen

Learn the art of making pottery and create decorative and functional vessels in a spacious studio.

This class is for the beginner and for those who have taken beginning pottery classes in the past. The course will cover basic and intermediate level workings in clay – this class is mainly focused on wheel-thrown vessels (centering, pulling walls, shaping and trimming). Topics on cups, mugs, bowls, plates, cylinders, and aesthetics related to these shapes will be covered.

Advanced students are welcome and individual instruction will be given on topics such as lids, two-part pots, slip decoration, large vessels, production techniques, and more.

Each student will create a small series of functional vessels on the wheel (6-8). Various styles of vessels will be discussed during this course and an introduction to glaze and firing techniques will also be covered.

The cost of this course includes 23 hours of free open studio time per week for extra practice.
