Expired Name Drafting Your Weaving
One Day Workshop
Date: Saturday, October 23, 2021
Time: 2:00-4:00 PM
Instructor: Chris Paul & Sheri Ward
The Navajo Saddle Blanket project on Eleanor’s loom in the front studio is name-drafted with the name “Eleanor Jansen” incorporated in the threading draft. Name-drafting is a way of assigning letters of the alphabet to harness numbers on the loom, and creating an original weaving draft from that. It can be a fun way to create a weavings with special meanings hidden in the cloth.
For this workshop, Chris Paul will instruct you on how to name-draft and Sheri Ward will help you put your new draft in the studio computer’s weaving software, so you can get an idea of what that weaving would look like. You’ll leave with a draft you might use for a Navajo Saddle Blanket of your own, or some other special project.
