1 Day Workshop with Lisa Toner

Saturday, April 8, 2023
11:00am–12:30pm

The Alexander Technique (AT) is a uniquely effective, holistic approach to creating new habits and optimizing human movement. There are many alignment-oriented disciplines out there, such as yoga, Pilates, some types of physical therapy, J-shaped spine, etc. What sets the AT apart is its focus on the head-spine relationship, which governs our overall “use” or quality of movement. In this class, you will learn a simple yet effective technique for freeing your head-spine relationship, which allows the spine to decompress and the rest of your system to come online. Then, you’ll learn the “technique part” of how to carry this newfound freedom into any activity. Actors, dancers, musicians, and equestrians use the AT to improve their performance and it can also help relieve back pain. The class will feature group activities, multiple opportunities for short individual turns, a new theme for each class, and a new reading or handout for each class. For new and returning students. Class size limited to 12.
