Upcoming Exploring Overshot

2 Week Class with Sheri Ward
Friday & Saturday, May 2-3 & May 9-10, 2024
1 – 4 pm
Overshot is the traditional weave you’ve seen in coverlets, and also a technique that can be adapted to contemporary design. In this class, we’ll explore the many ways an overshot threading can be woven: the traditional rose pattern and star pattern, as well as flame point, shadow fashion, and “on opposites.” At the end of the class, you’ll have a series of mug-rug sized samples. This class is suitable for beginning weavers as well as those who have some experience.
Looms are to be warped before the first class, following directions provided by the instructor. You may choose your own colors for warp and weft from materials provided, or bring suitable yarns from your stash. The use of a table loom in the Textile Studio is included as part of the class, or you may bring your own loom. If you would like help warping your loom, please come to the Textile Studio on Thursday, May 1 between 11 and 3, or arrange an alternate time with the instructor.
