Expired Encaustic Painting
2 Week Class with Jana Gering

Paint with fire! Encaustic is an ancient method of painting with beeswax. Jana will introduce you to the history, technique, and methodology of encaustic basics and show you how to work safely with the heat tools and torches, mix paint colors, and work with encaustic’s layered and tactile properties.
Further instruction will cover how to apply mixed media methods like collage, photography, image transfers, carving and incising lines, incorporating text, stamps, stencils, metallic foil, shellac, and more.

- A journal/sketchbook, papers, photos, and ephemera to use for collages. Wooden items or pottery, unusual papers, stencils, dried leaves or flowers, photocopied photos, pictures, or designs.
