Upcoming Encaustic Project: Altered Photography

1-day Workshop with Jana Gering
Saturday, April 5, 2025
11 am – 2 pm
Turn a family photograph (or any special photo) into a one-of-a-kind memento using the ancient medium of Encaustic, painting with beeswax. Learn how to properly attach a photograph to a wooden surface and the right kinds of archival glues to use. Then work over the photo with beeswax. Incorporate mixed-media techniques to build layers of meaning, including handwriting, collage work, incising lines, stamping words or letters, etc.
Beeswax is a naturally archival medium, and photographs properly sealed in encaustic paintings create durable, beautiful, one-of-a-kind gifts or mementos.
