Upcoming Earrings, Ring, and a Pendant

3 Day Workshop with Leah Meleski
Friday, October 20 – 5:30-8:30pm
Saturday, October 21 – 11:00am-6:00pm
& Sunday, October 22 – 11:00am-5:00pm
This 3-day workshop introduces the basics of bezel-setting cabochon gemstones. A cabochon is a gemstone that has been shaped and polished, usually with a rounded top and a flat reverse. Jewelers will use a bezel setting as means to connect a cabochon to a piece of metal. Bezel settings involve a thin band of fine silver that is formed around the gemstone to hold it in place. Techniques covered in class will include utilizing both pre-made bezel cups as well as fine silver tubing to create a setting for small round stones. Students are introduced to basic skills that are essential to metalsmithing, including sawing, soldering, setting stones, and finishing metal. Students will leave class with a finished pendant, earrings, and ring.
This is a beginning class that will reinforce and build upon the stone-setting skills learned in Metalsmithing & Jewelry 1.
