2 Day Workshop: Saturday, March 3 & 10
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Instructor: Susan Torntore

This is an intensive color workshop for spinners, weavers, knitters, felt-makers, and for anyone who wants to understand complex color relationships and create custom colors for yarns and fleece. Using acid dyes and protein fibers (wool and silk yarns), you will create 2 color wheels, experiment with primary color gradations, value (tint and shade) gradations, and use complementary colors to make chromatic neutrals.

You will learn how to mix and morph colors from around the wheel, and to analyze and mix color palettes from photos. A final exercise will help you create an individualized color palette using the yarns you have dyed.

Students leave the workshop with an amazing color resource binder, recipes, and methods to get started dyeing your own yarns and fleeces.
