Deborah Dewey is renowned as an electrifying performer and beloved teacher. Critics have noted the “sparkling passage work,” “warm operatic lyricism,” “thoughtful interpretation,” and “sense of dramatic urgency” in her playing. Praised for her sensitive musicianship and technical mastery, she won the KMS Resident Artist Competition, the William C Byrd Young Artist Competition, the Woolsey Hall Concerto Competition and the Northeastern United States MTNA Competition. She will be performing works by Debussy, Samuel Barber, and Rachmaninoff.
Artist Bio
Deborah Dewey is an internationally acclaimed pianist known for her sensitive musicianship and technical mastery, with critics praising her “sparkling passage work” and “thoughtful interpretation.” She has won numerous prestigious competitions, including the KMS Resident Artist Competition and the William C Byrd Young Artist Competition, and has performed with orchestras such as the Oakland Symphony and Yale Philharmonia. Dewey has given solo recitals across the U.S., Mexico, and Europe and has formed celebrated ensembles, including the four-hand duo VENTIDITA. She holds degrees from Wellesley College and Yale School of Music, where she earned top honors. A dedicated educator and competition judge, she resides in Seattle and plans to combine her passions for music, travel, and cycling during a sabbatical year.
