This informational and demonstration-based presentation is designed to give an overview of a wide variety of calligraphy and hand-lettering styles for the curious observer, as well as help guide you in selecting an appropriate calligraphy class here at The J!
In addition to a brief historical overview and a lot of demonstration, I’ll aim to answer some of the common questions calligraphers hear, such as:
What is calligraphy anyway?
I bought a kit and a book—why would I need a class?
I’m not artistic so I can’t do it.
Why is the class so long?
Do I have to practice?
What is calligraphy vs. lettering art?

As a professional calligrapher with a studio business, I hope to inspire and educate those with the slightest interest and show that calligraphy is not a “dying art.”
