ARTIST STATEMENT
The artwork in this exhibition represents times of the year when seasons seem to teeter between letting go and beginning.
As you look at the paintings you’ll find the in-between. It’s there, in an empty street scene where a young woman walks her dog while focused on her cell phone. It’s in a gentle ocean breeze through a patch of Meadow Mallow against a weathered oyster house, the red monolithic buildings of the Ilwaco Fish Company surrounding tuna fishermen on their boats icing up before heading out to sea, where cathedral-like silos tower over spring wheat, and in the cool shadow that gently falls over a rooftop beekeeper tending to his bees.
One season letting go and while another begins.
