You’re invited to the J’s annual benefit concert and art showcase – Art in the Alley! On Saturday, August 4, we will have live music, food trucks, a beer & wine garden, art activities, demonstrations, raffle and more. It all takes place behind the Jansen Art Center in Judson Alley. We’re planning a fun, outdoor dance party in celebration of the arts in our community.

THE CHANCELLORS
The Chancellors are an eight-piece funk machine fronted by the fabulous Shaina Shepperd. Armed with horns and a tight rhythm section, the band performs a wide selection of Funk, R&B, Motown, Soul, and Pop, driving the music to keep any dance floor on fire. With three horns, a relentlessly grooving rhythm section, sassy arrangements and belting vocals, The Chancellors put on an energetic performance that’s fun for everyone.
As fans of lesser-known funk, the members of The Chancellors make a point to include the great songs that don’t get remembered along with the hits everybody loves. Whether it’s Sly Stone, Betty Davis, Michael Jackson, PFunk, Tina Turner or The Meters, as long as you can break a sweat dancing to it, The Chancellors play it!
SHER VADINSKA & MARGARET WILDER
Bellingham musicians Sher Vadinska, guitar and Margaret Wilder, piano, will start the evening off with a selection of blues, funk, rock and R&B.
Studio Showcase
Ceramics, Dance, Fine Art, Jewelry, Music, and Textiles
Each of the J’s studios will participate in a special studio showcase in Judson Alley. Check out the art activities, demonstrations and items available for sale!
Food Trucks
We’ve invited a variety of food trucks to Art in the Alley this year, serving from their delicious menus. Check out Hot Diggity Dog, Tacos El Tule, and Sugar Shack Ice Cream during the event.
Beer & Wine Garden
The Firehall Cafe staff will be serving from their menu of local beer and wine out on the back patio.

Raffle
We will once again have a raffle at Art in the Alley. Purchase raffle tickets and put your tickets in the jars of the items you hope to win! We are currently collecting raffle items from local artists and businesses and will add updates closer to the event.
Donations suggestions include gift certificates to area businesses, original artwork (functional ceramics, quilts, jewelry), products that your business sells, gift baskets, etc.

GENERAL ADMISSION: $25.00
GROUP TICKETS: 5 for $100 or 10 for $200
Online ticket sales have ended – but you can purchase tickets at the Entrance, located on 4th Street, just West of the J.
Tickets may be purchased in person at the Jansen Art Center’s Gallery Shop. Tickets purchased online have a $1.50 convenience fee added to the price. All tickets are non-refundable. Tickets purchased online will be at the Will Call at the event entrance.
