Expired Argentium®: the Magic Silver, Beginners Sampler

3 Week Class with Cynthia Topp
Thursdays, November 2-16, 2023
5:45-8:45pm
In this three-evening beginner’s workshop, you’ll embark on an exciting journey into the world of jewelry making. Using Argentium®, a special silver alloy known for its non-tarnishing properties and unique characteristics, you’ll learn a range of techniques to create stunning pieces.
Over the course of the workshop, you’ll be introduced to standard jeweler’s tools such as the jeweler’s saw, acetylene torch, files, polishing equipment and more, and learn how to use them safely. You’ll learn to craft beautiful shapes like circles, hearts, teardrops, and whimsical spirals, and discover the joy of fusing wire to sheet metal! But that’s not all! This extended workshop goes a step further to empower you with additional skills that will truly elevate your creations. You’ll be introduced to the fascinating art of granulation, an ancient goldsmithing technique where tiny balls are fused onto a back plate.
We understand that the idea of working with a jeweler’s torch and melting metal can be intimidating. That’s why this class is designed to inspire and encourage those who may feel fearful. The instructor will guide you through each step, even standing right beside you as you use the torch, ensuring a safe and comfortable learning environment.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll not only have fallen in love with the versatility of Argentium®, but you’ll also proudly walk away with your own handcrafted pendant, a pair of earrings, or perhaps even both. Join us and unlock your creativity in this three-evening adventure that will leave you with cherished keepsakes and newfound confidence in your jewelry-making abilities.
