Submissions are now open for the 5th Annual Cup Show!

Ceramic artists are encouraged to submit up to 3 cups for consideration for this year’s show.

Last year, the jury accepted submissions from over 30 artists, totaling over 75 cups. Submissions came in from 7 counties in Washington, including over 10 artists in Bellingham, and included out of state submissions for the first time from Vancouver, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas, Montana and Illinois.

There are three awards given for this exhibit: Judges Choice & 2nd Place, and the People’s Choice Award. Votes for the People’s Choice Award are taken during the opening reception. There will be over $450 in cash and prizes awarded.

To submit your cups, simply complete the entry form below by Monday, May 8th. We look forward to seeing you at the Opening Reception on Thursday, June 1 from 6-8pm.

Artists may submit up to 3 pieces total. Maximum total file size allowed is 8MB (3 uploaded images cannot total more than 8MB). Submitting artwork does not guarantee selection for exhibition. Submissions must be received by 11:59pm PST on Monday, May 8. All artists will be notified within ten (10) days following the submission deadline. Please provide images/documents of all works. Artists submitting multiple works should be aware that not all pieces may ultimately be selected. Specific groupings of work and final arrangement of the exhibition will be left to the discretion of the curatorial staff. If accepted into the exhibition, artists will be expected to provide a signed copy of our Consignment Agreement, which will be provided in their acceptance notification. Accepted artwork must be delivered by hand or by post to the Jansen Art Center by the stated deadline to be included in the show. Accepted artists will be notified of the specific dates and deadlines for their specific show when they receive their acceptance notification. This notification will also include a copy of the Consignment Agreement. Accepted artists are responsible for their own postage and shipping to and from the gallery. All unsold artwork must be retrieved within one month following the exhibition closing. The Jansen Art Center makes a concerted attempt to aid the prompt pickup and retrieval of hosted artwork. However, particularly in the case of negligent or absent artists, the Jansen Art Center cannot be held responsible for the security of abandoned work. Artwork not retrieved after 1 month will be considered abandoned and become property of the Jansen Art Center, and sold or disposed of at our discretion. Only select exhibitions will have printed postcards when supplemental funding is available. Non-local artists must provide a prepaid return shipping label or valid account number for the return of unsold works using the courier method of their choice. The Jansen Art Center will not ship via C.O.D. Show sales will be divided as such: 40% Jansen Art Center, 60% Artist Compensation. The Jansen Art Center is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization – the percentage of your sale that is retained is used to support Jansen Art Center programs – thank you!
