Bellingham Modern Quilt Guild at the Inn at Lynden
October 14, 2021 – February 1, 2022
The Jansen Art Center is pleased to welcome the Bellingham Modern Quilt Guild to the Inn at Lynden for an exhibit of their work.
Artist Statement
Artists of the Bellingham Modern Quilt Guild (BMQG) use bold or solid colors, minimalism, asymmetry, expansive negative space, alternate gridwork or improvisational piecing to design quilts with a modern aesthetic. Our members hail from Skagit and Whatcom counties, coming together to advance our craft and engage the art and quilt communities with fresh ideas. Quilts by our members have been showcased at the Lightcatcher museum as part of the national Modern Quilt Guild traveling exhibit, Jansen Art Center, Spark museum, Social Fabric, among other local venues.
The BMQG is an IRS 501c3 nonprofit organization, and our members create quilts for hospitals and charities in our community. Our local guild meets twice monthly for a general meeting and a handwork happy hour, and for quarterly sew days and annual retreats as local health conditions allow.
