The Jansen Art Center proudly presents a battle of musical proportions! Young bands of any genre are invited to submit their original music to win cash prizes and studio recording time.
Submit online performances to be juried by a selection of musicians from the community. Three groups will be chosen to perform at the Finals where the first ever Jansen Art Center Battle of the Bands winner will be announced.
Bands will be chosen to compete based on their artistic ability and instrumentation. The jury will review all applications and select three bands to compete in the final competition on May 21, 2022. One band will be chosen as an alternate and should be available to play on May 21 should it become necessary.
How to Submit
If your band fits the qualifications below, we encourage you to participate. Fill out the submission form, pay a $20 submission fee, and get the chance to win cash and studio time!
- All band members must be under 20 years old as of the submission date.
- Bands should consist of two to six players.
- All genres welcome – any material containing explicit lyrics will be disqualified.
- This competition is for amateur musicians only. Bands signed by any record company (including independent record labels) are not eligible to compete.
Judging & Prizes
Final prizes will be awarded in person on the night of the competition. The decision will be 75% Judges Vote and 25% Audience Vote.
First Place Prize
$500 cash
Recording session at Empty Sea Studios, plus production, mixing, and mastering.
Second Place Prize
$250 cash
Third Place Prize
$100 cash
