ARTIST STATEMENT
Peggy Woods grew up exploring, drawing and painting the beaches and woods of the west coast. She channeled her talents into a successful career in illustration and graphic design. Woods has received numerous awards for her artwork in national competitions. Now with an art studio in Anacortes, Woods has returned her focus to her roots — using watercolor to capture the beauty of her environment.
The soulful connection that Woods has to her subjects makes her paintings come to life. Her attention to detail and realistic style pull the viewer into the space the artist has created. The play of light on water — whether glowing with strong contrast or misty with a soft touch — creates tranquil dramas that convey the poignancy of everyday coastal life.
It is the artist’s quiet observation and remarkable touch with watercolors that invite the observer to join her vision of celebrating this beautiful corner of the world.
