2019 Falling Out of the Box: Lost but Not Forgotten
‘THANK YOU!’
A warm thank you to everyone who participated and / or came to the Opening Reception of Falling Out of the Box. It was an incredible night filled with inspiring conversation and the most inventive pieces of jewelry.
Falling Out of the Box is an annual jewelry and metal art design challenge and exhibit hosted by the Jansen Art Center Jewelry Studio. This is the 5th year for the challenge, which is designed to encourage artists to create something new, challenge themselves to use different materials and have fun sharing their work with a community of artists. This year’s challenge, Lost but Not Forgotten, is inspired by the shape, color, and movement of lost earrings. The artist then creates a wearable piece of jewelry from it. Artists of all skill level are encouraged to participate – the challenge involves the fabrication of metal jewelry from supplies provided in the mystery Material Box. In order to participate, artists register by purchasing a Material Box and then have 5 weeks to complete a piece!CONGRATULATIONS to this year’s winners!
First Place, Liane Redpath, Under the Moon
Second Place, Leah Meleski, Organized Chaos
Third Place, Jules McLeland, The Wave
People’s Choice Award, Gloria Shannon, Drops from Heaven
If you were unable to attend the Opening Reception, you are in luck: Falling Out of the Box will be exhibiting in the Piano Lounge from now until Friday, November 29, 2019!
