Thursday Piano Lounge

Join us Thursday, May 23rd, from 5:30 - 7:30 for an evening with Jerri Mercer on the piano. She will serenade you with jazz, rock and classic favorites as she brings her creative music styles to our piano lounge.

No cover - beer, wine, & food available.

The Fort Bend Texas Boys Choir - Friday, June 14, 7:30 pm
The Jansen Art Center is proud to present The Fort Bend Texas Boys Choir. The choir was organized to give boys with special musical abilities and interests an opportunity to perform more challenging choral literature from classical selections to folk music. The group combines the freshness and enthusiasm of childhood with artistic maturity, something that can only be achieved through serious work. Boyish energy is channeled into dedication to excel, team effort and hard work. For other children, the boys serve as models of purposeful work and high achievement.

Admission is $10 for adults $5 for children ages 12 and under - purchase tickets here.

Chilkat Weaving Lecture with Courtney Lipson - Friday, June 21 @ 8:00 pm
Friday, June 21st, in celebration of the ANWG 2013 Conference, there will be a lecture by Courtney Lipson entitled "A Journey in Chilkat Weaving" held at the Jansen Art Center.

Chilkat weaving is a traditional and unique form of weaving from the Peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast. From pattern board and raw materials to a Chilkat robe Courtney will take you on a visual journey through her process with anecdotes of lessons learned and wisdom gathered.  This is the story of an artist and the community that enabled her first Chilkat weaving.

Admission for this event is free.

Kids Art Sampler Summer Camp - Mon - Friday, June 24-28
Groups of 8-11 & 12-14 year olds • Cost $170
Throughout the week explore & experience all of the following:
• Drawing
• Harmonica
• Fiber Arts
• Sculpting with Legos
• Dance/Movement
• Ceramics
• Music/Percussion
• Painting
• Mixed Media
• Clowning

Kids will get a taste of a wide variety of art forms to see what they might want to pursue in greater depth in the future. The week long camp ends with a group gallery show, parents & friends invited! Camp is $150 with $20 material fee. Click here for more details & to register.

Upfront Theater @ the J - Saturday, July 13, 8:00 pm
Performers from The Upfront Theatre will be providing an hour long, improvised comedy show; using audience suggestions and interaction to create hilarious scenes that will all be completely made up on the spot! This family friendly show is completely appropriate for all ages.

BizArt Youth Camp, Mon-Wed, July 15-17 (plus 4 hour shift at the Rasberry Festival)
Ages 10-16 • Cost $45

Learn the art of business and the business of art. Create Art and Make Money!
Learn from artists and other business people how to create art with sales in mind.  Includes time making items, learning about pricing, marketing, merchandising and customer service.  Camp will have a booth outside the Jansen Art Center during the Raspberry Festival to sell their art.  Participants will receive a commission on all sales plus have fun learning about entrepreneurship!

A Tribute To Dave Brubeck

Ted Lombard is a jazz pianist who has organized a "Tribute to Dave Brubeck."   This show features some of the finest musicians in the area on bass, drums and alto sax.  While sharing some stories about Dave Brubeck's life you are entertained with some of the finest jazz that is enjoyed by music lovers of all ages.

The Atlantics - Saturday, August 10, 7:30
Come enjoy The Atlantics, a band that has been a favorite of Bellingham for the past 30+ years. The Atlantics perform year round at local venues or for special occasions and offer a wide variety of tunes that sound like a mixture of boogie, pop rock, and good ol' blues. An evening you won't want to miss!
